Setting a minimum stay requirement is a simple, effective way to protect your property's availability and make the most of busy travel periods. Whether you want to encourage longer stays over long weekends or prevent single-night bookings during peak seasons, minimum stays give you better control over your calendar and guest payments.
Here is everything you need to know about setting up and managing minimum stay rules for Expedia through NightsBridge.
How automatic updates work
You do not need to log into Expedia separately to adjust your stay rules. NightsBridge takes care of the sync automatically behind the scenes:
- Whenever you add or change a minimum stay requirement in your NightsBridge Setup, those changes update automatically on Expedia.
Important restriction: Expedia’s 28-night limit
To keep online bookings running smoothly, Expedia has a specific rule regarding minimum stay durations:
- 28-night maximum: Expedia restricts minimum stay settings to a maximum of 28 nights.
- Avoiding connection errors: If a minimum stay of more than 28 nights is configured, it will trigger update errors on Expedia. Because connection errors can potentially lead to double bookings, NightsBridge will temporarily close your Expedia connection to protect your calendar and notify you about the error right away.
- Quick resolution: As soon as you adjust the minimum stay back to 28 nights or fewer, we re-open your connection and sync your updated stay rule to Expedia immediately.
Watch out for overriding promotions
If you run special deals or promotional rates on Expedia, it is worth doing a quick check on your settings:
- Promotions take priority: Active promotions on Expedia can sometimes override your general minimum stay setup.
- Review your deals: We recommend reviewing the active promotions you have on Expedia to adjust or remove any deals that might conflict with your general minimum stay strategy.
