How to set up a close out to block arrivals and departures for specific dates

Whether you want to enjoy a quiet public holiday without managing guest check-ins or need to prevent departures on busy dates like New Year's Day, setting up a close out gives you full control over your calendar.

A close out allows you to block new arrivals or departures on specific dates while still letting guests who checked in earlier stay over seamlessly.

Where are your close outs applied?

When you set up a close out and publish your changes, your arrival and departure restrictions automatically sync across your connected online channels:

  • Your NightsBridge Booking Engine on your website and social media pages
  • Booking.com
  • Expedia
  • Airbnb
  • Google Hotels
  • New Frontiers

A quick note for non-synced channels:
If you work with any booking channels that cannot receive close-out details directly from NightsBridge, remember to update those channels directly so your restrictions stay in sync everywhere.

Step 1: Navigate to Close-outs

Log into your NightsBridge account and open the Main Menu.

Click on Setup.

Select Close-outs.

Step 2: Add your close out details

Click the + Add button.

Name and select the close out type

  1. Name your close out: Enter a clear reference name (e.g., "New Year's Arrival Block").
  2. Select the close out type: Choose the restriction type from the drop-down menu:
    • Closed for Arrival and Departure: Blocks guests from both arriving and departing on the chosen dates.
    • Closed for Arrival: Prevents new guests from checking in on these days.
    • Closed for Departure: Prevents checked-in guests from checking out on these days.

Step 3: Choose your dates and days of the week

  1. Click the calendar icon to select your Valid From date.
  2. Click the calendar icon to select your Valid To date.
  3. Select days of the week: If your close out spans a week or more, tick the specific days of the week the restriction should apply to (e.g., Thursday and Friday).

Step 4: Select your rate sheets and room types

  1. Use the drop-down menu to select the Rate Sheet the close out applies to (or select all rate sheets).
  2. Select the specific Room Type (or all room types) to restrict.

Review your details, click Save.

Step 5: Publish your changes

Your close out is now saved in your account, but it needs to be published so your booking channels receive the update.

Click Exit to return to your Setup screen.

Click Publish to upload your new close out information live to your online channels.

How your close out appears on your calendar

Once published, open your NightsBridge Calendar,

  1. navigate to the selected dates, and
  2. switch the toggle to view the close out.
  • The close out will highlight in red across the restricted dates and room types.
  • Online bookings for arrivals or departures on those dates will be blocked, while your calendar cells remain open for existing stay-overs.
