Taking a payment when a guest is standing right in front of you should be quick and stress-free. Whether you use NightsBridge Pay or another payment gateway, you can easily generate a link right from their booking and process the payment on the spot. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you through it.
Step 1: Open the guest’s booking
First, head over to the Booking and Payment Status page for your specific guest. (If you need a quick refresher on how to find this, we have a handy tutorial called "How to Find a Guest's Booking and Payments Status page" to help you out!).
Step 2: Create the payment link
Click the Create Payment Link button.
A message will pop up asking if you want to make it a "3D Secure" payment link.
We always recommend clicking Yes. This simply means the guest will get a quick OTP (One Time Pin) or a prompt on their mobile banking app to approve the payment. It's an important extra layer of safety that protects you from fraud and chargebacks, so you can sleep better at night.
Note: If you choose to skip this step by clicking No, please remember to ask the guest to sign the NightsBridge Pay transaction slip and grab a copy of their ID, passport, or driver's license. This serves as your proof that they were present and agreed to the payment.
Step 3: Open the payment form
Once you've made your choice, the link will appear. Just click the Open button to bring up the payment form.
Step 4: Fill in the card details (or let your guest do it!)
Now it's time to:enter the credit card number, the name on the card, the expiry date, and the CVC/CVV number, along with the amount to be charged. If the situation allows, it is always best to turn the screen around and let the guest type this information in themselves. It gives them peace of mind! Once everything is filled in, click Continue.
Step 5: Double-check the amount
A quick pop-up will ask you to confirm the payment amount.
- Let your guest take a look to make sure it is correct,
- and then click Confirm. (If there’s a typo, no worries - just click 'Go Back' and fix the amount).
Step 6: The final approval
If you chose the 3D Secure option earlier, the guest will now just need to authorise the transaction on their phone. Once they give it the thumbs up, the payment is processed and confirmed!
