How to work out occupancy by rooms

Occupancy by room is calculated as the no. of rooms actually sold/no. possible nights that could have been sold in a period.

Our Occupancy Calculator can provide you with this information if you want to compare your occupancy across different periods of time.

Access the Occupancy Calculator

  1. Click on Tools.
  2. Click on Occupancy.

Select the dates for which you would like to calculate the occupancy

Note the default information

  1. The full current month is selected.
  2. All rooms are selected.

Change the dates to the period for which you want to view occupancy

  • Change the dates in Select Dates. In this example, we want to know the occupancy for the month of July 2022.

Select the room(s) for which you would like to calculate the occupancy

In this example, we want to know the occupancy of all the rooms. All the rooms are ticked.

Click on 'Calculate by Rooms'

Occupancy % will be given for the rooms selected

Occupancy per room is calculated as the total number of rooms booked/the total number of available room nights.

  • In this example:
    • Rooms: No. available rooms = 6
    • Nights: No. rooms x no. nights. 6 rooms x 31 nights = 186 room nights available
    • Sold: How many room nights sold in the period = 63
    • Occupancy: No. room nights sold/no. available room nights. 63/186= 33.9%
